Ingredients: Siam benzoin, rose buds, Calamus, Cardamom, Cinnamon bark, Galanga, juniper berries, frankincense, Ladanum, Sandalwood, Lemongrass, forest honey, Myrrh, Mastic resin, untreated raisins, wine.

Origin: Egypt

Flavor: sweet

History and Traditions: By far the most famous incense of the Egyptian priestly workshops, Kyphi was exported throughout the ancient world. It is not easy to trace the original recipe, as several versions have been handed down. The Kyphi of Edfu Temple was the best known product, and its recipe was carved by priests on the wall of the temple workshop. The recipe proposed by Plutarch (which he learned from a priest on his trip to Egypt) has 16 ingredients and differs from others that have been handed down.

Information: The recipe we use has about 16 ingredients and takes about a month to prepare, including the seasoning of the product. Compared to Plutarch's traditional recipe, ours also takes into account earlier recipes (found in the papyri of Harry a of Ebers) that include some ingredients that Plutarch does not include.
