History and Tradition | This incense was the most popular in the Egyptian priestly laboratories, all over the country was exported throughout the ancient world. It is not easy to trace the original recipe since several versions have been handed down. The Kyphi of the Edfu temple is the best known product and its recipe was carved by the priests on the wall of the temple laboratory. The recipe proposed by Plutarch (which he learned on his journey to Egypt from a priest), includes 16 ingredients and differs from the others that have been handed down. |
